Default Buying first bike ever!

So last week I put in a security deposit for an iron 883 and now all I have to do is give the rest of the downpayment and it's mine. Now it's my first bike so I just have a few questions. 1st off, the bike is 7999 but the sales lady told me it would be 9999 at the end of everything so downpayment was 1000 is this normal..2000 sounds like alot of extras, it's either a 5 or 6 year loan so maybe it's with the interest added? Also is there any bargaining I can do so they throw in some gear. And any other general tips on buying your first bike and being a noob all together? Thanks in advance!

7999 sticker, then add taxes and fees. Looking at the dealership today at the "out the door" price tags compared to sticker that sounds about right. Figure 1k of that is taxes on the sale, they will charge freight, doc fees etc. You could try to bring some of that down, but you would be better off seeing if you could get them to throw in some merch. I'm still negotiating on mine, but getting them to throw ina 3-400 gift card for merch, or throw on some cheap accessories wouldn't be too much to ask.

Downpayments have effects on financing at certain %s, in this case you are looking at a 10% down payment, which is usually the smallest payment that will effect the financing.

See if they will throw in the 1,000 mile service. It will be a value of approx. $300.00 that you would need to spend in a short period of time.

First Off Welcome to the Forum, Hope you post up some pictures of the Iron when you get it, and glad to see your starting off your 1st bike with a sporty, can't beat em. I agree with BG1 on the 1k Service, it'll come around before you know it, and it's always good to have that worked out off the bat. As far as your helmet/jacket,etc... Im afraid that will depend on whos writing you up, But doesn't hurt to ask. Best Wishes & Good luck on your deal, let us know how it goes. -Joe

I tried to get them to throw in some merch when I bought my first bike just over a month ago, they told me that the clothes & parts dept was different than the bike sales dept so they couldn't offer me anything other than a free t-shirt. They did however bend on the price quite a bit. I told the my OTD price and they made it work. Guess it just depends on the dealership on what they can negotiate with.

+1 on the 1k service for free... When I bought my bike in June my local dealer was running a special where they paid freight, prep, and state taxes. By the time I was done negotiating I got em to throw in the 1k and 15% off any parts I ordered. Oh and 2 tee shirts.

My experience was great at four rivers hd in paducah, ky. I believe a lot of your expereince will depend on the dealer. Granted I bought my 11 48 used with 2400 miles, I got it for right around book value, with vance and hines short shots, heavy breather, fuel pak, badlands seat with removable sissy bar, 16" ape hangers ( which I'm replacing tomorrow), and some little odds and ends, AND I got a $500 gift card. I did however go through my bank on the financing, got a lower interest rate, financed everything, and still have a lower payment. Good luck with your haggling, lol.

Got my Iron (wife got the Iron) for 7399 OTD plus $500.00 gift card. Also got free install on parts during 1st service. Six days later, got Wifes 883L for 7800 OTD plus $500.00 gift card. Both bikes are 2011. Just ask and all they can say is no. Remember there is not a lot of mark up on sportsters. I had guys tell me about better deals around like $1000 gift cards. Thats all good, but I bet the price of the bike reflects that gift card.

Curious where you got this deal? How did you get a brand new Iron for $600 under list price and pay no TTL, freight, or set up, and get a $500 GC? That is a hell of a deal.

I got in on the $1000 gift card for buying a new bike, also got $100 GC for taking\passing MSF, and I got freight waved. I think I paid $8450 OTD and got my pipes, SE Stage 1 and re-map.

I am not sure what the extra $2k is for. TTL, freight and set up should be just under $1k on that bike. Also, i would not suggest financing gear or parts on your loan, the $400 pipes will end up being $600 by the time you pay the loan.

Good Luck, it's a fun a$$ bike....
