Got some bar-end mirrors yesterday. Made in China. Paid $17. It was foolish of me to expect directions with them. I'm totally clueless as how to install them. Usually I'm pretty good at this kinda thing, but I feel stupid right MEOW.
As you screw (tighten) in the ends the tapered piece forces the notched piece apart thus securing it on the inside of the handlebar. You must remove the end caps from your grips.
Also, the usual problem with those bar-end mirrors from ebay is most of them are made for 7/8 inch bars. Unless it specifically stated it was for 1" bars, it may not hold securley.
How about drilling holes in the ends of my grips instead of cutting the ends off?
One word of caution: The throttle side has the issue that the bar end mirror's clamp can rub against the grip/tube if you don't leave enough gap. Yeah, you're gonna have to actually cut the end of the grip off to get it to look and work right.
It's worth it to the time and effort to get the bar end mirrors installed securely. You'll like being able to see close up behind you without having your shoulders, etc. in the way.

You can probably use a 1/16" shim and wrap it around to make up the 1/8" difference.
