Default Chrome bolts or covers?

I can't stand that the bolts on the bike are not chrome or stainless!!!!

Should I go through the time and expense of changing them out to stainless or chrome or should i just get the covers to go over them.

Has anyone used the covers before. Can you get them back off with our breaking them, do they fall off?

Well, it is totally up to you. The chrome bolt cover has a couple small fingers to lock the head of the bolt, it sits very tight. My buddy got a bunch on his softail for over 3 years, never fall off. You can pry them off with a small flat head screwdriver with breaking them. Of course it looks much better if you replace them all but it will cost you a bit. If you don't want to go for the Harley chrome bolts, many Marine shops carry stainless and chrome hardware, they are cheaper. Alex

Be careful with stainless bolts. Don't use it unless you know the grade of the bolt. Unmarked bolts are only grade 2.

I used the allen head chrome covers, check em out, most any dealer will have em. They hold well, snap on and off easy, and reuseable. Takes about 40+ in 3 sizes if you want to go wild. It would cost a small fortune to replace the bolts at the heads, case, frame, etc....

I've got every bolt head on this bike covered with Hottoppers. They fit nice and tight, but I still put a small dab of clear silicon in them before I slip them on just to be sure they stay there. They can be pried off easy enough without damaging them. I like the way they dress it up.

Where did you get them from? How much $?

How do you put them on, do you push them on with your fingers or do you have to tap them on?

Got some from dealer, some from eBay. The ones without internal keepers just slip on. They're pretty snug. Tapped them on with plastic handle on screwdriver.
