Default Bike's dirty

New guy here, had the bike for three weeks riding daily. I've read about pitting & chrome damage from cleaning products. I want to clean her up but don't want to screw up. Any proven safe cleaners? Thanks, JF

Dish soap, a few squirts in a huge bucket of warm water and you will be fine.

The stuff that messes with Chrome is engine degreaser, brake cleaner, and other harsh chemicals.

Do not use a dish soap on your paint. Go to the auto parts store and get something designed for auto paint so it won't affect your clearcoat.

I was a professional detailer for many years.

The only adverse affect from dish soap is that it will strip the wax off of your clearcoat, but that should be removed and reapplied every time you wash your bike anyway in my opinion. (Especially since it takes about 10 minutes to wax a bike).

Catalyst based automotive clear coat is impervious to dish soap.

Thanks, sounds like the ArmorAll brand car wash/wax I use on my truck should be safe. JF

Yes it will be fine as long as you don't have the special "Denim" paint.

Hey Jack, I know some will say it's pricey, but that stuff, Bike Bright is a really great spray and rinse solution. I use a (clean) leaf blower to dry it off. If you do a LOT of riding, after a while you probably won't want to clean it as much.

I use Meguiars car wash soap and a leaf blower for full on washing. Followed by Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 or Ultimate Carnauba plus. For the quick stuff I use a swiffer duster followed by Bugslide.
