Default Need about 2" pull back on the Iron 883...how to do this?

Hey all.

So, after installing my Mustang seat, I find that I'm not leaning forward a bit more than I'd like over the tank. I would like a seating position that is just slightly more upright. This is for my 2012 Iron 883.

I have been looking online and I can't see too many options to get just a bit more reach on the bars. I'm not looking for much, just about 2" of pull back. If the bars came up higher by 1" or so, that would be fine too.

I plan to stop by the dealer and see what they have, but does anyone else have ideas? I can't just throw on risers, as the speedo is mounted to the current riser block.

For the cost of it, I *really* want to be able to re-use my existing cables, wires, and lines.

Anyone else do this?

Well, after looking around and considering my options, I'm going to try a set of 1.1" riser extensions I found on Ebay. They are machined here in the US from high quality aluminum and powder coated.

For $30, if that adds the comfort I'm looking for, that is by far the most simple option for the install.

I'll update the thread once they are installed and we'll see how it goes.

I have the same problem. Would like to bring the bars up about an inch or two and back about an inch on my 2012 Iron. Seems that risers are best option I have found, the only problem pointed out would be the front brake lines, but the tech at the dealership said it would depend on how much the risers raise the bars and move them back. You might be fine with just the small risers.

Yeah, I looked at the cables and all wiring, looks like I could extend the bars up and back a total of about 2-3" of displacement before I would have to start extending brake lines. The wiring looks like its got 3-4" of slack, and the throttle cables appear to have even more.

I'm going to try these ~1" riser inserts and see how it goes.

I have the HD 4" pull back risers on my bike and they are what you are looking for. They bring the bars up and back, but not too high. I have drag bars on mine and was going to go back to the stock risers, but my wife talked me out of that idea.

What did you need to replace as far as cables/lines/wires go for that install?

Did the speedo have to be relocated?

If the 1" risers don't do it for me, I'll have to look into a more drastic change, like the risers you mentioned.

You're fine if it's just a few inches. You will need to change the brake line if you go at least 10+.

You can go with 1.5" riser extensions with no cable, wire, or brake line issues. Most can go all the way to 3" with no issues.

No all my wires and cables are stock, I did relocate the gauges to ontop of the eyebrow so they were lower and did not stick up due to the curve risers. That relaction cost me about $5.00 got all the stuff at Lows and took me about 15 mins to do.
