Default synth oil change rule of thumb?

Ok, I just went all synth in both holes. (Mobil1) This was my 5k fluid change. So assuming the oil change frequency in the manual is for Dino, is there a rule of thumb for milage intervals with synth oil? What frequency do most of you synth users change at? When am I due for my next change?

My local dealer told me with synthetic I can go 5K between changes.

I'm the type of person that changes oil ....a lot. I'm talking every couple thousand miles. New oil, new filter. Can't hurt ...I know I'm spending a lot more but I baby my bikes.

I just switched to synthetic oil last week and thought my engine sounded different. Were you kidding, or does it really change the sound? (Or am I hallucinating?)

your motor will be fine as harley recomends syth oil and the service manual shows services @ 5000 mile intervals. run dino, change more often. your choice of sythetics are quite a few. personally i use mobil 1 vt 20-50 sythentic and am pleased with it.

Thumbs up

I don't know if it's my imagination or what, but the valve train seems quieter with the Mobil1. I haven't noticed any difference in the clutch or shifter. But it seems to be good stuff.

I just changed mine to synthetic yesterday too. Went to Mobil 1 V-Twin 20-50. I only have about 1300 miles on the bike so far. Put it in the primary and the engine. The engine does seem a little smoother but maybe that's just my wishful thinking.
