Hi I am having an issue with my 2000 sportster. I start her up, she runs for about 30 secs to 1 minute then dies. Then when I try to restart her there is no response from the starter. No clicking, no sound, nothing. The lights, turn signals work, all lights. I then checked and the 4th fuse was blown. I replaced it and then she started for about 30 seconds and died. Starter wouldn't work again and blown fuse. Any ideas what's causing this and what to do? HD shop backed up for a month. Thanks RA (roadpirate)
Apparently you have a short in the wiring somewhere. Check the battery wires to see if they have worn through or that the connection ends are still soldered together. Then if that's not it, you'll need to trace the wires back from the fuse that keeps blowing to check those wires.
