Thanks greglal for the explanation but I have never been one to follow the herd, to me if something ain't right it ain't right even if I do it. Like rags on your pipes, if you are burning your foot wrap your pipe until you can do something else but why would you want that chit all over?

lol...yeah and singed hair marks...

It's amazing how fast denim burns when you're going down the road after resting it on the pipe at a stop.

Eventually you get to know the smell and carry some water with you.
