Really dissappointed with my windshield

I know that they are expensive, but the Harley quick detach windsield I bought (the lowest height one which you look over, not through), has been great with respect to creating a wind free zone without buffeting up to 85 MPH (haven't had the opportunity to go faster for extended periods on my current tour). I am 5' 9", and using my hand to feel the wind it feels like there are 2-3 inches above the top of my helmet that are also wind free.

Hey I've tried three windshields trying to find the right one and here are my thoughts on them. First off I tried a national cycle flyscreen 750-493, the smallest of the three, and it seemed to cut the wind very slight but I got beat from the sides bad. Second windshield I bought was the national cycle deflector 750-526. This did better but still got a little beating from the sides and top, but better. Note this is not a quick detach and scratched my handlebars. Liked this one the least because of that. My third one was HD's quick detach. It was the best at handling the wind perhaps because of the size, but was the most expensive. This also is a quick detach so you can take it off when in town or short rides and put on when you take a longer trip. Perhaps the cutaway at the bottom of the model you bought is letting air to pass. I agree with Aaron48 get some lowers.

Remember the touring bikes have 800 pounds behind them and are probably most suited for windshields. If Harley thought it was a safe idea they probably would be selling them but their not right?
I'm just lookin out for your safety. I remember my sporty. I'm just thinking if the wind gust caught that bike the wrong way you could have problems with a windshield on the sporty. Be careful.

I hit 110 MPH with the Sportster on the Autobahn and averaged 85-90 MPH a few days ago, and the bike had no problems with the OEM Harley windshield.

I wear a half face with goggles. I don't particularly like the look of a windshield either but if I want to drive a few hundred miles how could I with out it? The wind at 60, 70, and over is ...well...windy! ...lol. That and I got tired of being pelted with rocks and debris.
Here is a pic of my windshield:
Dimensions:
20" from the headlight cutout to the top of the shield.
22" in overall height.
19" wide.
3.0mm thick
The way I have it mounted now I can see over the top of it. Speed below 50 is no problem ....60 and over it gets bad.
So I need to get lowers? I do notice a ton of wind coming up from the bottom. Recommendations on where to get a set?
Thanks for all the advice.

Have the 18" detachable HD one on my XLH. Like quite a few have said here and in previous threads, I monkeyed around a lot adjusting mine until I am actually pretty pleased with it. I think it is an individual deal in adjusting as all of us are different sized. I am 6' and have the buffeting down to a point I can open the shield on my FF if I want and still keep my glasses on my face. Every time I think about taking it off I end up cleaning some gargantuan bug splatter of it that would have been on me and I leave it on...
