Very common thread here. Do a search on exhaust, pipes, baffles, etc, and you'll find a lot of comments and debates. As for me, if you want a nice rumble, louder than stock but not so loud as to really **** off the neighbors I recommend the Screamin Eagle SP slipons. They have a good sound IMO. Loud but not too loud. That's what I run. Some will say they don't sound like a real Harley because they aren't loud enough. Well, they sound like a real Harley to me.

I have the Martin Bro's 2-down pipes and they are nice-cost alot, but look and sound good. They are loud, but not bad at all with the baffles in, I took mine out so they are open. There is a ton of pipes out there so do a search and see what you like.

Don't do the Rinehart slip-ons......they DO rumble the neighborhood!! I'm probably going to change to V&H Short Shots here soon. I've heard them on a Nightster and they are quieter than what I have on the GF's bike.

I like the v&h short shots...but every other sportster you see has them. I think its time for a new design.

yes indeed.

My step dad owns an indy shop here in town...when I used to work there I would spend most of my free time rummaging through our catalogs looking for the perfect set of pipes. Money wasnt a big issue cuz I could get everything at cost (which is significantly less then retail BTW/FYI) and you know what I ended up doing?

I took some stocker muff's to the back, stipped out the baffles and viola! I had sound!! cost me all of 5 mins and 0 dollars and my bike sounds bad ***. its very loud though...i suggest if your just looking for a little rumble...punch the baffle in your stockers for now until you really find what you want. This method will hold you over so you dont make a rash decision and buy a set of pipes your not gonna want after 2 weeks.

I believe that the Rush slip-ons have a very good rumble and are not too loud (depending on the size of the baffles you go with).

Check this out:

They have clips of the exhaust on the Sportsters with different baffle sizes.

I personally run Cycle Shack 1 3/4" drag pipes. Very nice rumble, not excessively loud and cheap. See here:

I have a set of Cycle Shack exhaust (full set) for sale. They sounded great, but the girl wanted Short Shots. PM me if interested.

Bassani Pro Street, good rumble, not sharp or tinny.

I had cycle shacks....they dont fit very well but are great sounding pipes and for the $$$$ you cant beat 'em.

I got rid of them cuz I didnt really dig the styling...to me they just looked like relics from the past.

in fact, cycle shack used to make SE pipes if i'm not mistaken.
