Bell helmets

Revolver was delivered
My wife's Bell Revolver was delivered today. Like all Bell helmets it fits true to size and seems very solidly built and manufactured. It is exactly as I expected it to be. She is very pleased. Some of you liked the review I posted on the RS-1, so here is one by Revzilla on the Revolver. Their description is accurate from my perspective. (As before, I bought the Revolver from Motorcycle Superstore.) I have had to use their return policy recently when we guessed wrong on the size of some riding pants for my wife and it couldn't be easier. All it costs you is the shipping, although they send you an electronic shipping label so it's very easy if you decide it isn't what you want. One last argument for Bell--They are made in the USA. Shoei helmets are made in Japan.

I have the Bell Star with a transitions shield and couldn't be happier. Even on the hottest summer days, I wear the full face star over my half helmet.
Motorcyclecloseouts.com sells the bell star for way cheaper than retail. Mine was on sale because it was an old colour scheme......gloss black.

I actually have the cheap one (Bell Arrow - $99), and it is also a wonderful helmet. I was very impressed for the price. You can check the reviews of most of these bell helmets here:

I had a Bell Sprint FF and it was the cheapest, worst made helmet I have ever owned.
Problems included:
Visor did not seal to helmet
Loud whistling noise from helmet over 45mph
Stitching came undone before I even washed it once
Chin strap retention clip broke
I tried to return it and of course they told me they don't take returns.
I threw it in the trash and bought an HJC FF and I have never been happier.

Made in USA?
Nope, I was misled on that. Bell helmets are made by Easton-Bell Sports, a US company based in Van Nuys, CA, so I was right that it is a US company. (It's the same company that make Easton bats, gloves etc for baseball/softball and Riddell football helmets and equipment.)
Although the products are "Designed in Santa Cruz" (California) and are so marked, they are made in China, which it says on the box. The list of things manufactured in the US keeps getting shorter.

Their Star line is excellent, but you should really take a look at the Sprint line, its garbage and far lower in quality than HJC offerings at the same price point.
