A 2001 1200 cc. He is taking the class this weekend for his certification here in WA. Rode the bike home for him. I ride a 2007 Heritage Softail Classic. I heave never been so disappointed in a ride, tons of vibration, could not see the cars behind me in the mirrors. My question: Is this normal? If so, what can be done to remove some of the vibration. Bike smooths out nice at the 40-50 mph range.
Very normal, sportsters shake hard and vibrate. They're pretty much a slammed motorcycle, don't except a cushy ride.
heh. "starter/girls bike" eh?
Big diff than a softy, yes.
It grows on you, then your softy becomes.. "squishy"
Honestly though, yeah sporties are going to be rougher riding.
easy dude youre way out of line the bs remarks, his son in law could be married to his son. J/k. Im looking for a sportster too. Just for fun and maybe the wife will try riding.

Maybe I don't know what to expect, but my 2009 883 custom doesn't shake or vibrate that I can tell. Since the 2001 isn't rubber mounted that is more likely the issue.

If you've sat on some of the newer twin-cam bikes, you'd notice the extra vibration our Sportsters have.
I didn't notice it too much until I rode the Switchback. At idle it shakes and buzzes like normal, but once you start twisting the throttle it becomes smooth and stable.
