Default How to bob out a sportster?

I am looking into buy a sportster either a 1200 or 883 doesnt really matter to me. Probally in the year of 2000-2006. I want to make it look like a old bobber. You know the kind, spring seat, small bakc fender, drap bars, etc... but where do I find the parts and what do I all need to do this? I work on muscle cars of the 60's so i think i can handle doing it myself but how do I know whats going to work with the bike? I have some pictucers in my mind but if someone can tell me how to get the look im after and what needs to be bought it would greatly help me out.

I included some picturces of other sporters having the look im going for please help out a new guy.

The first link is a 1975 but its the look im going for

(also first post if its in the wrong area i am sorry)

Doing a search for "harley cafe racer" brings up a lot of cool bike pics on google.
Big fan of the style

Parts for sporties are everywhere. ebay, amazon and online shops. It's more of ordering a springer seat you like from online. I just started doing some mods so my list of online vendors is very short.

I like the old look, that's what i just bought a 48. But getting a good used base like a bit older 883/1200 makes the mod world better sense your going to customize it all anyways.
Once you hit a month on the forums here, you can then partake in the buy/sale section here where you will find some good used stuff.

post pics as you go man. my fav style.

No, your in the right section to post. Although some people might flame ya for not just searching the forums for "bobber".. as in they think it fills up there computer with posts they are not interested in and assume they have to read it and post and share.. cause they have lots and lots of extra time to annoy, but not to help. ignore the type.
But just saying "i want a bobber" leaves the post way open with no direction. So that would be why it's hard to help and you may not get a good direction from others. just fyi

I am trying to achieve the "bobber" look myself (however you define it). You can find parts on MANY websites like DennisKirk, J&PCycles, Licks Cycles, Lowbrow Customs, DK Customs, eBay, etc. Find the type of part you want to put on your bike to achieve that style and then shop online.

And keep us updated!

in general, one doesn't buy xyz to add to a bike to make it a "bobber".

they remove a bunch of superflous chrome and crap and strip it down to basics.

further, trying to define a "bobber" vs a "cafe racer" vs a "chopper" is like arguing whether 9mm is better than .45.... it's so subjective and opinions vary wildly.

best of luck...

I don't really consider mine anything since the idea of a bobber, chopper etc. usually varies from person to person. My bike is a 2008 1200 that I hardtailed and it's a little similar to the pic you added. Ive got the drag bars and spring seat, no fender obviously but maybe this will help a little.
