how to stretch the front some

Getting slightly longer down tubes is not bad, but 10 inches creates a substantial geometry problem. The best way to do this is to preserve the correct geometry (rake and trail) of the front end. This way you will not suffer handling issues which possibly could get dangerous. Back in the day people really didn't care about these numbers and just chopped stuff in their backyard for the most part. But now it can be done correctly and precisely.
The first way to do it is to cut the frame and rake the neck outward and get longer down tubes. This irreversible in most cases but is a true "chop".
The other way to is to get a special front end that adjusts the pivot point of the trees outward just as the chop would but within the triple trees. This is a bolt on. It's a little hard to explain unless you see it for yourself. Some companies that sell these front ends include AME and Seeger Cycles. I have a friend that bought the AME kit and the quality is excellent. He was going to have his Softail frame cut until he saw the front end kit. The AME offers larger diameter tubes (41mm or larger) also if you want the fat look but Seeger (at least at that time) did not.
Just search for "AME chopper kit" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

I guess it would be a bolter....and that is definitely not as cool.
seriously though...bolt together "chopper" kits suck....its like buying a Honda Fury when you want a Big Dog or something...its definitely not the same and people will notice...
There is a guy on this forum that has a BAD *** chopper made from a nightster...he has a SUPER long rake with a springer front end...he also did a TRUE chop. I dont know his name or his handle but its worth a search...its bad ***..
