1st, welcome aboard from No. Va. I've always said, ride what ya like and want. I have never told someone their bike sucks, or asked why they got this or that. I have also never been questioned about my bike, but have gotten many compliments. Ride on; often and safe.

Just go to user CP and add a signature picture so we know what/who we are talking to.

I an am old guy with a bad shoulder. If I have to have it fixed (i.e. surgery) I might be in the market for something not quite so heavy as my RKC. It's threads like this that really make me wonder if a sporty might not be the scooter for me. I really like the forty eight but it seems a lot of sporty owners spend a lot of time defending the "fact" that their scooter is not a girl's bike/entry level bike/budget bike/not a real harley/etc.

I looked at a forty eight that the dealer had tricked out, WWW, mini apes, gold metalflake tank, wrapped exhaust, tractor seat, breather, pin striping, etc., etc. Really nice to the tune of $14,500, definitely not a budget scooter.

Decisions, decisions.

Its the nature of the harley rider beast. First off. Most dont have any respect for riders of other bikes except harleys. And just because a sportster is an entry level bike and most harley riders think you need the most manly bike you can get your hands on. Its all about their image. I have a 1994 heritage and have been riding over 40 years. Dont worry about what the sheep think. They all wear black t shirts and arnt very originL anyway. Live life your way. Enjoy your sportster.

I might be paranoid but I did notice something quite funny. When I ride and see other bikers, we wave at each other. But when I'm stopped at a light next or nearby bigger Harleys, I feel like they ignore me. Sometimes I go to that place where there are always bikers seating on their big-twins chatting. When I park next to them, they barely acknowledge me.

Maybe I have bad luck lol.
