Yeah...that's how it sounds. Starts low then gets louder with time.

Just my luck as Georgia is about to have some 100 degree dog days this week.

? Cause when the bike is HOT it will whine after pressing the RUN switch; stops whinning after fuel injection stops, & then sound starts again after starting the engine. The sound does seem to come from the top or inside the gas tank.
Wait, wait... you press the run switch, and then you hear a noise, sort of like "PSSSFFFTTTTTT" that stops after about 2 seconds?

That's the fuel pump working normally to pressurize the tank. Now, I know that it must come on again when the bike is running and fuel is leaving the tank, but I've NEVER heard it, as the engine is much louder than the fuel pump. If you are hearing it come on while the engine is running, either you have amazing ears and I'm just too old, or something funky is going on.

As asked before, it doesn't get louder/higher pitched if you rev the engine? If it did, that would say "primary chain" to me. What happened after you backed the chain off a little?

I don't know if it's alright to ride like that, but I have before and haven't seen any ill side effects. I guess the best thing to do would be to keep it out of the sun, that's what I do. Keeps the seat cooler anyway lol

The high pitched "whinning" is heard on top of; or with, the normal sound of the fuel pump... but only when the bike is hot. From a cold start it has the normal "PSSSFFFTTTTTT" sound but after the bike runs awhile the "whinning" starts.

The pitch gets louder after reving but it is gradual & stays louder... so I think it's the bike getting warmer. Even when in neutral & idle the "whinning" seems to only get louder... it peeks eventualy & just stays pretty noticable.

Rode today about 50 miles. It was a little cooler today & I didn't notice the "whinning" until about 45 miles into the ride.

I'm pretty sure it has some something to do with the heat on the gastank. It has done it to me a few times and everytime it has been hot as hell, sitting in the sun.
If I leave my tank bag on it doesn't do it.
Must have to do with the pressure of the gas in a hot tank?

hmm... and it doesn't change if you blip the throttle?

Doesn't sound like my primary did when I overtightened it...
