Did not like the stock bars on the 48 at all so I tied Buckhorns and they put my wrist at an odd angle. I bought Biltwell Chumps and they are just right for me. I'm only 5'7" so taller apes would be tall for me with seat I have.

Did you have to extend your cables for those Chumps? Or will the stock cables work ok?
Thanks

That's great. About how much longer is the new brake line? I will try to order the bars and brake line at the same time.
Sure would be nice to see a picture of those bars mounted up.
Thanks

Thanks Billy, all mounted up those bars look a lot like mini apes but not as tall. Looks just right to me.
Thanks

My 883 came with buckhorns from the person that sold it to me. They were awful. They made my wrists hurt by the angle that they turn inward. I ended up buying stock handlebars from the local independant mechanic for $20 and putting them on myself. Best $20 I spent on that bike.

So, long story short, I would rather have stock than the buckhorns, and that's not saying much.

I'd like to try out the mini-apes myself but wonder if they wouldn't be really uncomfortable at high speed.

Mine had apes on it when I bought it, but because of repeated shoulder injuries on my tugboat days, my hands go numb when I hold them at shoulder level or higher. Loved the look tho. I've now got buckhorns on, and the height feels good, but the wrist angle is odd. I'm going to give it a while and see if I get used to it, I reckon. Before & after below:

That second picture doesn't look like buck horns to me. It looks more like some kind of beach bar, or cruiser bar, I think.
