Frequent stops is great advice too!

Even just pulling over and standing up for a sec and stretching the back out then gone again, will help you loads.

I can actually do the twist around back pop while riding. Nothing is worse than when you just got on the highway and you feel that little pop that you didnt get out of your lower back.

The Sporty will do fine. I rode the complete Natches Trace from Nashville to Natches, MS, then returned through MS, AK, and back to Nashville. Lots of side trips, almost all back roads etc. The ride was 4 days and I think around 1,100 miles. The bike was fine. My butt on the other hand...OUCH! Stock seats suck.

250 miles out on a Saturday (NJ to MD), 250 miles back on Sunday with no problem (including a section through the rain on I-81 and sitting in several miles of stop-and-go traffic for construction on I-78). I have the Sundowner seat and occasionally rode the passenger pegs on the interstates; the stop-and-stretch breaks are also very good advice.

My longest was 400 miles in one day. Sporty handled it easily.

Just got back from a trip to Key West from up in the pan handle of Florida. Trip was about 840 miles down and about 1735 round trip. Down we did 560 miles from Gulf Breeze to Port Pierce, then the remaining 280 or so on down the next day. Coming back about the same strategy, we did about 550 the first day back and the remainder the next day. Probably could not have stayed on the Sporty that long without some changes. I had replaced the stock seat with a Mustang Regal Duke, and added forward pegs to be able to move my legs from the mid pegs. Another issue is the 3 Gal fuel tank. Had to manage your gas stops. In general, tried to run about 70 miles take a break, then 70 miles and fill up. Longest single sit on bike was about 117 miles.
