Longest ride ......about 240 in a day, cruising threw Hunterdon County..NJ.... back by the farmlands..... One of the best rides ever ..... I highly recomend it to ALL....If your from the area.....


I'm looking to join a ride this 2007 summer in May with a bunch of guys..... friends of friends ....... Gonna take the bike down to Myrtle Beach.... and swing around through Tenn..... I hopw the Old Sprortster has got what it takes....

Its about 2500 miles total....in around 8 days.....

FYI.........67 today here in NJ........... Mother Nature keeps on giving us NJ folks some nice weather lately........ I aint complaining....lol

I got a little riding i this summer but no good long runs and am very happy with my stock seat and the forward controls help a lot also. The reason I was asking length is I'm going to do a ride from Detroit to Charleston W.V. for the HOG rally this coming summer and was wanting to get some info on long rides with my stock seat. The Longest ride this summer was 100 miles and I didn't have any discomfort with my stock seat at all. I also put on throwover saddlebags and am going to add a medium sissy bar and get a Kurykan bag.

 

farthest in one day 730 Clarksville TN to Blairstown IA. Stock 883 have mid controlls and hichway pegs moveing feet around gives new position makes it easier.

 

I did a 1600 mile trip in a week a few months ago with the stock seat and no windshield. I found that 300 miles a day is about the limit before it really starts to hurt, for me. I should also add that I wore a kidny belt for back support. That really seemed to help a lot.

 

A few 300+ mile rides and some 600+ mile days. The key is getting off for frequent breaks. Stretch out that body before, during and after. But as others have posted, the sporty can handle it no matter what the "others" say

 

I have done many 250+ miles days. A couple of 300+. How you guys do that and more with the Stock BRICK is SuperHuman.

 

My longest ride in one day was 560 miles from Indy to SC.

 

love the bike.................... i also noticed that the pipes you have.....Are those the V&H staggards????

If so, i was thinking of getting them for my 07 XL50.... I'm just waiting for the pipes to be relaesed for my model, with EFI....

do you like them..... do you have any videos of the way they sound???

Go man, go! I haven't planned my next trip yet; I want it to be all road, no visiting family this time.
Oh yeah, the thread. 500+ mile days, no prob on the stock seat. Good scenery helps.

 

732 miles from Tn to Dayton, Fl for the rally. I did it in one day from 6 am to 10 pm. I have a sundowner seat and a windshield and a alot *****. At the end I ahve to say I needed several beers, hot shower, and a warm bed. I have to admit that I trailered back because it was snowing at home thank GOD! Hard but I got my patch for riding to daytona (I Rode Mine Daytona 2006)
