Default Replacement Horn : )

Dam horn only worked sometime and wasn't very loud when it did. Was in Advanced Auto today and saw a horn similar to my HD piece-o-crap.
For 20$ i figured i'd take one along & try it. New horn was slightly bigger but it fit inside the Cow Bell. It's a little louder too : )
Wonder what HD would have charged for a new piece-o-crap.

Good find! I'll have to check that out. My stock horn works 10% of the time these days. Must be dying.

Suggest you don't buy the PIAA horn you see advertised on eBay that is supposed to fit Harleys.
I bought one and like to think I know what I am doing but for sure I can't make the sucker fit the Harley cow bell.
Took the old horn to the Auto parts place, matched it to a FIAMM, high pitch horn for $14, works just fine, still not loud but it works.

Not trying to start a fuss, but:

I have stock exhaust and my bike is pretty quiet, and I've had one too many close calls that people did not see me or hear the horn, so I upgraded. It mounted pretty similar to the stock horn on my 48, and my god is it loud in comparison.

This was completely aftermarket, not HD equipment. The horn was also originally red, but it stood out, so I painted it gloss black.

I thought I'd also share the tone. The video does the sound no justice as it is much louder and recorded with my iphone, but here: http://youtu.be/8olUHAX7l8I

A local auto parts store. Just a standard air horn unit. It has a separate motor that pumps the air, but that's mounted under everything.
