If that was me, I'd get rid of that thing and go back to the stock seat or something different...

Like others, I'm glad that didn't happen while you were riding and to think of the outcome if you were on the highway...

it needs to move, it's an hinge and if it's too tight it will bend instead and snap.
hard mounted my phillps seat now.

Glad your ok man and it's a good thing they are replacing it, but if it happened once it can happen again. As long as you are useing that seat i would have a good grip on the bars.

Hahaha thanks for the advice fellas.

I'm going to take the new bracket and beef it up before i re-install the seat. I've got a bunch of extra steel laying around from frame patching my crusty toyota and i know this stuff is strong.

Not to mention Rich Phillips is replacing the hinge for FREE so i'll give it another whirl

I suppose you could run a heavy duty zip tie strap thru the seat bracket and around the bolt to act as a kind of a safety lanyard just in case.
