Default $10 ebay find.....

So, I've been wanting to chop the rear fender on my 02 883R, but had no desire to mess with the original one that's on there.
I started pricing fenders....wow, more than this cat wants to spend on something I'm gonna strip and chop!!!!
So, while perusing the wonders of ebay, I came across this one for 10 bucks....but it had quite the dent in it..

I've got a good hand with forming sheet metal, so I said "What the hell, why not?" and bought it...20 bucks for shipping, but I'm still ahead of the game....
It arrived yesterday, and after 3 minutes on the face of an anvil, it looked like this..

So, I did a rough chop to it after doing some more minor dent mashing...

And this is where I'm at now...it's been mostly sandblasted to get the paint off, and still needs some fine planishing, but it's coming along pretty good so far.

I'll post some more pics as it progresses....

Massillon Ohio. Where in Ohio are you? My wife & I ride to Celina for lunch quite a bit. There's a drive through liquor store that makes some bad *** pizza and a joint right down from there called Big *** Burgers that's right on Grand Lake.

Same here man but it's rows of semi trailers flat on the ground with no axles. Called Rotten Choppers. Tons of Pans, Knuckles & Shovels. Even some flat heads but NO Sportster stuff! The guy hates Sportsters! Lol.

So, I've got it to where I can't really do much to it anymore until I get my spring solo seat pan and get the mounting figured out, and get my new tail light and signals. Once I get all that worked out, then I can put the fender on, mark where I have to cut the struts, and then do the final cut on the fender.
Here it is with a smidge of bondo on it to blend out some ripples and hammer marks.

(Note to self, do NOT leave your polished finishing hammers out where other people can use them, because to them, a hammer is just a hammer....sigh...)

I threw some flat white on it to keep it from rusting until I get all my other stuff done....
