You have a 2007? You may be hearing the injectors ticking as the engine revs up to keep up with the gear change.. my 2010s injectors are pretty noisy in situations like that and my exhaust is nowhere near quiet at all. I also get a whirling kind of noise which reminds me of a light weight flywheel.
I've been hearing this whirling noise on my 09. Sounds almost like the sound you hear if you open your car window slightly at speed. It's driving me crazy since I don't know what it is!

Well the whirling noise I was referring to happens when I downshift without rev matching. It sounds kind of like a supercharger whine if anything as the engine quickly picks up RPM. It doesn't sound bad though.

The clattering stopped when i downshifted to 1st at a lower speed. I guess i was just downshifting too fast. I was downshifting to 1st to corner but i guess its better to corner in 2nd gear? What gears do you guys corner in?

I don't corner guys, but my bike? It all depends on the angle of the turn. Usually in 2nd for most of em.

You did good not to have the rear tire lock up on you. That would of been bad.....
