Sporty - cruiser or sportsbike ?
Had my 883R 3 weeks now (500 miles) Handles well and leans on corners - more like a sportsbike or naked at least. Lower seat and cruiser pipes - more like a cruiser. Mine has mid controls - pegs pretty sporty. Thinnish tyres at times almost like a trail bike. What is this machine? I can wear my open face helmet and denims and cruise around town - good for posing. Put on full face helmet and armour leathers and off on the twisties. Is the Sporty anything you want it to be? When I bought it I thought 'great, my first Harley - a small cruiser probably.' But it seems so much more than that. Can't seem to put it into a category really. Not that it matters. Interested how you guys use/view the Sporty. Whatever - it's just great!

It's definitely no sport bike. The profound lack of lean angle takes care of that. However, compared to other Harleys, it's pretty damn nimble. I do push mine pretty hard in the bends... probably harder than I should. Leaning off the bike is absolutely necessary to avoid grinding the pegs and exhaust into dust. Even with that, sparks tend to fly. Hard parts just hang down too far. Of course, it doesn't help that I ride a Low, lol.
I will say though, the Sporty can fill a varied number of roles. Mine is a commuter, tourer, weekend mountain toy, and "bar hopper".
