Some prick keyed my Iron 883

I am mad pissed off right now. Some ***** keyed the rear fender on my iron last night while working (im a LEO here in Melbourne).
Its deep, down to the metal. What do you guys think? I workmate did the report and I will help by going over hours of cctv. Will the fender have to be resprayed? I am freaking angry as I have not put a mark on this bike after 14,000kms and some ******* does it for me on purpose

I seriously doubt someone keyed it.
It looks to be a very small scratch and there are 3 sections to it. A key mark would be a lot longer and usually are a solid scratch. I've fixed a lot of vandal jobs in the shop. Although it sounds very unlikely - I would much sooner believe a lawn mower blew a pebble at it or a ladies purse zipper hit it at the mall or something. It could be anything.
Sometimes people don't notice things. Could it have happened a week ago instead of the night you were at work? Maybe you just didn't see it until then. The possibilities are endless. I don't think it's a key job in an inconspicuous spot like that. And why didn't they do a number on your tank if they were out to get you?

It's something with the denim paint. If it's in a garage or really dark area and there's any small amount of moisture on it when you take a pic, it tends to look like that.

Boy I would definitely not want that paint, I have a cow when I see bug guts on my forks and headlight haha
