lean/ jetting questions
I bought the bike with S/E slip ons and running a little lean in rear cylinder. Air cleaner was dirty so I put on the S/E stage 1 filter. I started getting some carb farts during warm up and sluggish response on highway and exhaust didn't sound the same. Ideal air/fuel plug was already removed and turned out and I bumped it up to 4 turns and was still running lean in both cylinders.
Purchased a stage 1 carb kit from Harley performance to rejet the carb. Kit came into today. Came with 42,44,170,175 jets. Service book says stock is 44,175. I took a part the carb and I have 45, 175 jets inside.
Where do I go from here? Going up in numbers is a bigger jet correct? Did they send me the wrong ones? or is it a needle problem?
Dont know where to go. New with carbs.
Any help will be great

Um, its always wise to see what jet you have in the carb before you order any jets, but I'm sure you know that now.
Did you read what it said about setting your air/fuel ratio on the Harley Performance site?
What does the plug look like compared to the ones on this chart?

Your rear cylinder will always be a bit leaner than the front one.

On an 883 engine, you really shouldn't need anything bigger than a 45/175...I would use a 44/175 combo instead. If you feel the need to go bigger on the jets your tuning is bad.
Like xFreebirdx said, go read this and do it. After that you will probably see there is no need for a bigger jet, and you may be able to even use the 44 instead of your 45.

Your plugs not bad, but you need to set your air fuel ratio by the link scuba posted first. Then we go from there.
