Adding a King Tour Pak to a Sportster

Adding a King Tour Pak to a Sportster
I was wondering if anyone has added a King Tour Pak to their Sportster. More specifically, has anyone wired the lights on the Tour Pak to work to the wiring harness of their Sportster. I've got a 06 Sportser 1200 Custom and would like to wire the Tour Pak lights to work with the run/turn/brake module I have installed on the bike. The Tour Pak is from a 1994 Ultra Classic and has a three wire triangle plug for the side lights and tail lights of the Tour Pak.
What I was thinking of doing was to create a T-style wiring harness that plugs into the three wire output of the module and then plug it into the three wire triangle plug from the Tour Pak. I believe all of the connectors and pins/sockets can be bought from J&P to do this with. Is there a better, easier way of doing this?
Any ideas of how to adapt this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Earnie

You can also get the parts you need from your local friendly Harley dealer!
I've fitted a tourpak to my Glide (wasn't designed to have one) and wired the lights in a similar way to what you describe. My main comment is that a tourpak is pretty big and can hold an awful lot of stuff, so you will need a very strong carrier to mount it on!

grbrown,
Thanks for the info. I called the two dealerships that are near me and neither one has the connectors. I ordered the connectors from J&P this morning and will put something together when they arrive. I don't know if I'll get the lights wired up before I leave next Friday for my trip out west but I can get that done when I get back.
I got one of the tour pak mounts that jackyl sells. Its pretty sturdy and replaces the sissy bar and luggage rack and attaches to the sideplates. I did have to trim it down a little on each side to get it to work with the 1994 tour pak. I had it all mounted up before I took it apart for paint. It is extremely solid and very well supported. Jackyl makes a good mount for the tour paks. I talked to the painter this morning and will be picking it up this evening. Once the new hardware arrives I can get it back together and mounted on the bike.
Thanks,
Earnie

Will do. I picked it up from the painter on Friday after work. I'm waiting on the new hinges, lock, latches and seal to put it all back together. The AMP style wire connectors and the Deutsch sockets/pins should arrive today from J&P Cycles. They wanted $280 - $350 for the crimper. I looked on Autozones web site and they have one listed for MSD wiring this is an AMP crimper for the Deutsch connectors for $39. If this one will work I'd rather buy it and save a ton of money.
Hopefully it will all come together so I can leave early Friday morning with 5 other guy's to do our 9 day trip.
