Default Mini Ape install question on 48

Hello all,

How hard is it to install the Mini ape bars yourself? in particularly, the throttle/clutch cables? Looking at the manual, it wants you to remove your tank to replace the cables, is that true and needed? What about the wiring extension?

Dealer wants $600 to install the cables, new brake line, bars and run wires thru the bars. Sound reasonable?

I put 10" Z bars on mine and only had to replace the front brake cable. I bought a build your own steal braided line kit for like $55. I cut off a few cable ties and had enough pull on the cables to get more length out of them. If you go larger then you will have to replace more stuff.

screw that $600 quote!

if you are talking about the h-d mini apes and their h-d companion parts then it isn't hard at all (aside from wiring inside the bars, i ain't done that yet).

the throttle cables are easy to remove/replace once the little brass ferrels are out... and even those aren't real tough. you MUST properly adjust your throttle cables after changing them out.
the clutch cable is very easy also. the hardest part is living with the fact that you will touch gear oil (i hate the stuff).
you will need a friend to help you bleed your brakes after you swap your line out.

removing the tank will make the wires and throttles much easier to do. the tank takes about 1.5 minutes to remove.... no biggie.
