Default Licks or Leaks?

Got to work this morning with sky looking real rough. Sure enough the sky opened up and we got a real down pour for about 1/2 hour. With all the flooding going on around here that wasn't needed for anyone dealing with that.
When I went out to get on my bike and head home I opened up the new Licks bag to drag out a rag and wipe down the seat.
My micro rag along with a couple of tools and my tire gauge were sitting in about 2" of water that had collected in the bottom of the Licks.
Hey I know these things are not waterproof but I thought it would keep some of the water out.
Yeah the top was cinched down tight on the last hole. I have ridden in light rain with no real issues but then I think my leg and body probably helped block the rain and keep it out.
To compare, I have a real cheap leather tool bag on the back of my windshield where I keep my gloves and sunglasses that stayed perfectly dry.
Guess I will keep everything in a water tight bag and put a drain hole on the bottom of the bag.
Just needed to vent after spending $$$ on a bag like this.

I've been riding through the recent rains here in Florida and I've never had anything in the Licks bag get wet. Slightly damp at one point, but never fully wet.

I've ridden through rain as well and nothing soaked through the bag; a little damp at most. Since is was a downpour, maybe some of the wind driven rain got in through the top-sides of the bag under the flap???
