While installing my forward controls I had to take off the front pipe to get to a couple places and happened to notice one of my nuts wasn't very snug.After looking at the nut I noticed it was stripped,the stud is fine but the nut is useless.Can anyone confirm the thread size?looks to me to be a 1/2x24 and can I get one at Lowes?

 

They are 5/16-24.

Not to insult you,but threads and pitch are based on the inside diameter of a nut,not the wrench size to take it off.I think you may have thought that because you needed a 1/2 inch tool to remove it.
