Default So I got rear ended..

Like the title states, last night 6-28-11 I was rear ended by a car. The accident occured when a driver two cars ahead of me stopped to make a left hand turn. The driver making the left hand turned stopped, the car/driver behind him stopped, I stopped my bike, and the B*tch behind me didn't! She was looking down and by the time she looked up she was up on my a$$. She locked up her wheels and slid right into me. The bike dropped to the right as I was thrown to the left into oncoming traffic. Luckily for me she was probably only going 10-15 MPH when she made contact. I was also lucky in that a fellow biker and his girl (If they are on this website, THANK YOU SO MUCH!) where going past at the very instance and stopped all traffic so I didn't get run over by oncoming traffic. I just got to count my blessings that it didn't turn out worse than it did. I just suffered bruised knees, elbow, shoulder, and GROIN! The groin and left knee are the worst injury.. The bike just got scratched up down the whole right side, front brake lever, rear brake pedal, exhaust, a/c and turn signal. I'm dropping it off at HD to get an estimate today. Like i said it could have been worse, considering I wasn't wearing a helmet or jacket (I know I'm an idiot). Lesson learned but i dont know if i could have done anything to avoid it. I guess, just avoid Hindu women drivers at all costs..

Glad to hear you're ok for the most part. That could have ended alot worse. Hopefully you can get everything repaired quickly and her insurance takes care of it properly.

On a side note I may be interested in buying that brake pedal from you. Ive been needing a spare for a project.

Glad to hear there were no severe injuries.
Regardless of fault, only you know whether or not it could have been avoided. It should however serve as a reminder, the importance of keeping an eyeball on the mirrors and watching what's happening behind you, especially when you're stopping or at a stop. And when you stop, always try an leave yourself an escape route.

Those cellphone idiots are out to kill us.

Thanks for the good wishes guys! I will definitely keep updating this as more information comes available. HD said they're at about 1 week time to give accident estimates. Hopefully i can get the bike repaired and back before the season is done.

YOURADHERE.. I will keep you in mind for the foot brake if they replace it and i get to keep the old one.

Glad to hear you are doing alright. As cHarley said, we ought to be careful at stop and intersections.

Sadly, I have noticed that driving has become the distraction for most drivers. I am very lucky to ride and think that translates into a much more careful cager.

That said, glad you are OK.
