Good to hear you are ok.....The almost same thing happened to me last year in August...only my bike and myself didnt fare to well. Bike was totaled and I ended up with broken ribs, broken fibula, some really nice forearm roadrash and a really deep bruise that went from the front of my chest all the way to my spine. I am still recovering and I still have my lawyer working on it. I was going 5 MPH the lady that hit me was going 50 MPH she never even saw me cause she was looking out the window. Get a lawyer involved or you may not come out on top in the end.
Keep an eye on yourself for about two weeks injuries can sneak up on you.
Yes this does hurt...or at least it did.

The last time I was wacked from behind by an idiot inattentive driver, I pulled out all the stops. If I would have been on a bike I would demand that the insurance company rent me a bike. Word of warning though, It ususlly takes a couple of days for ALL the pain to start. Riding right now might not t=be the best idea. Talk to your doctor and laywer first.
If they give you the go ahead, ask for a bike till your is fixed or replaced.

Glad your ok man, last summer we got rearend bad. We were going to take the XL50 that day if we would of I'm sure I would not be typeing this right now, but rain was in the forcast so I did not take the nice clean new car eaither. I had a 94 Ranger beat so we took that and a mile and half from home right after a major intersection traffic came a stop-our town is set up bad now since they keep building and adding drive ways and the roads are not set up for them. anyways A car stops real quick to make a left ture, the Honda van in fornt of me had to stop fast so I got on the brakes. There was still about a 20 foot gap form my truck to the van and I looked in my side mirror and could not ever get Oh S**T out. A 2006 Impala hit us at about a solid 40MPH or more. Hits us smashed my knee in the dash so my truck rolled into the van. Ended up spending the day in the ER, Wife was worse then I was, truck was totaled. The guy said he was looking back to check on his grandson in the back seat. Well way to go gramps-you got in in a bad accident.
Stay on her insureance, becasue the at fault drivers sometimes take a while to call in the claim-I know the guy that hit me did.

If you can prove that the bike is your primary transportation, you might get the insurance company to supply you with a car while your bike is being fixed.
If it's recreational only, then probably not.
Regardless, they'll balk at getting you a bike because of their cost difference. $40 / day for an econobox vs $120 / day for a Sportster.
They'll argue that they're only obligated to supply you with transportation, not what you were driving when you got hit.

I just picked up the estimate from the local HD shop. Total cost for repairs = $4,295.00 and $950.00 of that is labor.
All I know is it that I'm thankful to be here. A week later and my left knee and groin are still bruised up and still feel some pain. Other than that I'm good to get back to riding. Now I just have to wait and see how long it takes to get my bike fixed/back...

I can't make out all the coding/descriptions of all the parts, but the ones I can figure out are the following;
exhaust
gearcase cover & gasket
heavy breather a/c
right footpeg assembly
brake rod
brakepedal assembly
footpeg support bracket
front master cylinder assembly
front and rear tires
front brake lever
slider assembly?
shock absorber
handlebar
grips left and right
front fender
right rear turn signal
bullet trim ring
right mirror
fluids replaced
...and that pretty much sums it up... haha
I talked to the guy at HD and he said I can have all the damaged/old parts if I want because they just throw them out.. So I said I will love to have them. Especially since the bike doesn't even have 2,000 miles on it yet and most of the parts listed above are being replaced because they have small scratches on them..
