handsofdeath, did you run yours with stock cables? if so, was there excess slack? i plan on mounting mine under the tree cause i cant afford to buy the extended fork tubes to mount over.

 

Yeah, I'm running stock cables, you can see all the stuff hangin out front. Stock forks too, just slid them up in the trees. I think it lowered it like 1 3/8". Mine's no Nightster though. Your cables might be shorter.

 

Did you get them installed? If so got any pics?

I put clip ons on mine as well. Pretty comfy, considering I'm still using forward controls. The only thing I wanted to mention was that I had to adjust the front brake line, where it connects from the master cylinder to the steal tube section. I am also using stock cables, routed as per the photo. I would like to go with shorter cables as well, just not 100% sure on how much shorter to go... but 4 inches shorter would probably suffice.

well i bought them a little over a week ago, still havent recieved any shipping update so im kinda like WTF mate?

 

well i got the bars and gauge bracket and im in the middle of installing but the service manual only gives a break down on dismantling the whole front suspension. is there a quick and easy way to install these without dismantling the whole front end? like just slip it through the triple tree somehow?

 

Jack up your bike. Keep the back tire on the ground, get the front tire off the ground by about 6 inches. Loosen all the bolts in BOTH trees. Slide the forks down, Install the bars loosely. Slide the forks back up. Tighten everything. Done.

I had my RSD clip-ons installed by a shop. They told me they used cables 7" under stock. To me, it looks great. Nice and clean w/ no slack hangin around. Comfort wise, I love these things. I have them mounted at the top of the trees and arn't nearly as uncomfortable as I thought they would be. No regrets! Here's a picture of how the cables are run.

 

oh geez that bike looks freaking slick as hell. Do you know where they got those -7" cables, if they made them in house or what? and how much did JUST the cables run you? i managed to get the bars, gauge/headlight relocator, and LED indicator lights for $435 free shipping, i looked around for shorter cables just for aesthetic purposes but couldnt find any.

BTW the job with the bars and stuff isnt done yet, it was just too damn hot this weekend to be out in the garage for more than 30 minute at a time.
