Default Exhaust Chop - Advice required....

So when I bought my bike in 2008, it came with the cycle shack drags on it. It was the only mod.

I painted them black and they've held up fine, but I'm bored with them. I'm toying around with the idea of sawing the exhaust off - to the point where it would look like stock HD exhaust with the mufflers removed. So they would be shorties and I would either wrap or repaint them.

Question is, once I do that - will the individual pipes be short enough to be supported by JUST the 2 flange bolts at the heads once the intermediate pipe is eliminated? Or will I run into rattlekill issues? I've seen it done before with the stock exhaust, can't fathom this would be any different. Anyone got feedback?

BMX - that is exactly the picture I was trying to find last night with no luck. Shouldn't be a problem, right?

I don't get the purpose or need for lollipops. My pipes now are straight through. Do I HAVE to have them? I don't have a welder.
