Default 1200 in a unmodified Ironhead frame

Does anyone know if you can put a 06 1200 sportster engine in a 82 Ironhead frame... my ironhead needs a rebuild but I have an opportunity to pick up a 06 salvaged 1200 cheap.... will it work???

In 2004, HD made some big changes to the engine mounts. This was to accommodate rubber motor mounts. Putting an 06 motor into a pre- 04 frame would be difficult. Anything is possible.

It will not work with anything resembling a reasonable amount of effort. It can be done, but won't be even remotely easy.
