Default Primary engine sprocket stuck

I'm working on the shifter on my 2002 XLH 883 Hugger. I'm trying to get the engine sprocket, primary chain, and clutch pack removed. I've gotten the nut removed from the engine sprocket and clutch pack. The engine sprocket is stuck and needs a little help. Most articles I've read say it should come off with a good tug, but mine isn't budging. It looks as though maybe the last time it was installed that someone may have overdone the Locktite. But there isn't a lot of room between the case and back off the sprocket to get a pulle.....not to mention that it doesn't look like it would be very healthy using a puller with the chain in place. How can a puller be used? I really can't imagine that it will take much to get it free.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

If you already have the nut off, then locktite is not an issue. Tap the sprocket a few times with a hammer. You understand the sprocket and rotor are connected and are 1 piece right?

It will come off, just be patient.

Thanks Freebird. I mentioned the Locktite because it looks like there might be a little bit between the sprocket and shaft. And yep, I did realize they were one piece. The detent fell out when I slid out the clutch pack, so I know I've got a little work to do when I get back there. I'll try a few hammer taps and pull on it again. I've been going slow and easy with it, since this is my first time at it.

Thanks again,

Mike

Thanks Mister and Freebird....You were both right on. You gotta keep on it and be stronger than the magnets. I finally got that bad boy off this evening. I ended up using a large plastic pull tie looped in beind the sprocket, sorta as a handle. It finally broke loose. Then after several push pulls, I got hold of both it and the clutch and off they came. Now to work on that detent plate and get the shifting ironed out and I'll see if I can get it all back together. Thanks again for your help.
