Default Question about pipes (2007)

I was told that no one makes pipes yet for the 2007 sportster... if this is so, when should i start seeing em show up? Also, i was led to believe that if i changed the pipes, the bike will need to be re-mapped or sumthin... is this necessary? true?

Default RE: Question about pipes (2007)

Pipes and slip-ons for the '07 Sportsters should be available from the aftermarket vendors beginning after the first of the year, like around March or so from what I have read...

Thanks Thumper... you know if the bike really really needs to be re-mapped, etc if the pipes are changed??

My belief is, if you only change the mufflers to something that still has a semblance of baffles (like the "old" slip-ons such as the SE II's, Cycle Shacks, etc.) a re-map will not be necessary, but you will still get the "Harley sound". It's when you open the intake AND the exhaust together that will most likely require you to get a re-map to prevent a too-lean running condition. If, however, you only swap out the pipes for drag pipes (no baffles) you will also most likely need a re-map even though you don't touch the intake...

I believe they have the SEII slips on's available for 07 Sportys through HD now. The performance boost shown in the graph in the latest HD catalog looks impressive. I may go that route this spring.

There are a number of companies making slip-on's and full systems for the '07 Sportsters with 02 Sensor, including Vance & Hines.

Here are their 'Short Shots" for the '07.

And here are some Cobra's.

Yeah they are nice pipes, but if you decide to get them don't go with the "V&H Quoted Retail Price".

You can get them below ('07 Sportster with 02 Sensor) for $309, with free shipping..
