Red face My bike smells.

Yeah, I know... ha ha!

Anyway, I don't know if this is a normal thing. '08 Nightster with stage 1 (V&H side shots, Screaming Eagle heavy breather, PC-V). After I ride and shut down the bike, I notice a smell. Now this is where I will lose you.. it's like a doctor asking me to describe pain (sharp, dull, throbbing, aching, searing, etc.)! Damn near impossible!

It doesn't smell like burnt rubber. It smells like it's the engine... hot... Throw out some adjectives here please... I'm drawing a blank. It has smelled like this for a good while now (months), but no lights coming on, oil level is fine. I'm due for another service after my trip out east, but it has had this smell for a while now. She's not leaking any fluids either.

Does anyone else's bike have a peculiar "god, she(he) rode me hard!" kind of smell after they've been out riding on their Nightster???

Thanks!

Normal, my bike has had a smell when hot since I have purchased it, I liken it to the new car smell that will never go away. Your just smelling a hot engine, not damaging hot, just a normal smell.

Jeff - I'm holding you to it. I just can't remember if this smell was present before the stage 1 upgrade. I suffer from momnesia... so I don't remember.

Joe - you're sweet. Thank you!

Heat will make the smell more so but it will smell and rattle. HD is air cooled so they do that. If you smell rubber or see burned oil then thats another story. If fluid levels are good ride on. Just look around for grease and other stuff. OH if your forks are greased to much and grease gets on your heads there ya go stinky. Degrease and ride on.

Haha... rattle... yeah, I love the "sewing machine on speed" sound the Sporties make!

Thanks all!
