Default vance and hines question

Can the chrome end treatment on vance and hines pipes like the side shots and short shots be removed? I wanna go with the side shots but i want them to be all black, not a huge fan of the chrome ends. Thanks for the help.

Maybe you can mask off the first couple inches, scuff it, then hit it with some high temp engine primer and paint.

That might work, but you will have to sand and sand the chrome down for the paint to stick. Chrome is easy to paint over, but it's hard to get paint to stick and stay on it. I have seen many chrome parts painted and the paint chips off soon after very easy.

Scuff the chrome and use a metal etching primer.

On the short shots the chrome is the actual pipe, the black is a heat shield, the chrome tip is created by sliding the shield forward thus revealing some of the chrome pipe underneath. I am not sure how much you can get a way with on sliding the heat shield back. Here is a picture of my chrome ones, my son has the black ones if you would like to see them I will need to take a picture. He has the chrome 'tips' showing.

Here is a link to the installation instructions, might help with the explanation.

As you can see I only have about 1/4 inch of reveal, if you slide them to far down you might show at the cylinder. but that would be much more hidden, if needed I can get you a picture at the cylinder also.

Reverse the plating process. You can make your own too, if you aren't afraid of mixing electricity, soda carbonate, and water.

Or there's strippers...

Basically though: Yes, anything can be done. It simply comes down to what it's worth to you to accomplish the task at hand, and if the solution in question has an acceptable risk vs. outcome over cost/time.
