Ape hangers

Are they comfortable? I'm 6 foot, so I have long enough arms to sit back in my seat like I'm sitting in a Lazy-Boy. That's how I like to sit. When I see the guys with ape hangers it looks like they're sitting more upright. It just doesn't look comfortable to me, but I wouldn't know cuz I've never tried it.

I've ridden the Softail style stock apes (I think they're HD Mini-Apes), and they are surprisingly comfortable. I'm 6'2'' and the apes make controlling the bars and position a lot more comfortable for me.
They just fits my ergonomics a lot better. I still like my stock Sportster bars, but they get to me after a few hours and I gotta take a 15 min break.
The apes are usually a more upright position, but all you gotta do is tilt them back and you can lean back more.

I'm 6'0", and I'm the opposite of flatlander... I had apes on my SuperGlide, and they were wonderfully comfortable. However, the suspension on a Nightster is so bad that apes on it killed my back. The constant impact to my coccyx was agony. I put on stock Iron bars (lower and less pullback than Nightster bars), and back pain became a distant memory.
The point?
Find what works for you. Everybody has a different idea of comfort, and different tolerances for various types of abuse a motorcycle puts the body through. Just because one fit works for me doesn't mean it will for you, and vice versa.
