Vance and Hines are much louder than SE 2,.In the the slip on muffler market. Here is the story.I got Vance and Hines slip ons for my new sporty. The wife has a 2002 Sporty. So the bikes are very similar. With the baffels in her pipes and the baffles still in mine, mine was way louder, with her baffles removed mine still was louder than hers. With my baffles removed it cracks very well on a decel. If you remove the baffels from the Vance and Hines slip ons at some point on decel you will set off auto car alarms. You may set them off on accell depends on how you ride.So the Vance and Hines are way louder if that is what you are looking for.You can control the volume depending on throttle position.I don't know what you are looking for but the chrome on the Vance and Hines is second to none.I have heard that some of the cheaper slip ons use poor quality chrome but I can't say yes or no to that.I also hear that Vance and Hines has quiet baffels available but don't see the need for them locally as far as ther police dept so far.I wish I had a way to add a sound bite for you to hear the pipes.

Here is a link to information about the Straight Shots HS Slip-On's from the Vance & Hines webpage.

Tells about the slip-ons for the 04 - 07 Sportsters, has a picture, and also a sound byte that is suppose to be of the Slip-On's mounted on a Sportster.

They sound pretty good....

I have V&H Slip-ons with the Quiet Baffles installed on my 2006 XL1200R, they sound great and maybe even added a little boost in performance and as diablo66 said "the chrome is second to none".

Ditto what HeliRider said. The V&H slip-ons with the 'quiet baffles' have an amazing low rumble. They never fail to impress when I stop in at my dealer, either.

V&H does make some nice looking pipes and they do sound really good. I have SE II's on my bike right now and will probably stick with them. From what I have seen performance wise the SE slip on are better for performance then the V&H pipes. A vendor on another forum has done a lot of testing and has found that V&H pipe are not a very good performing pipe. But if you like the sound and the looks it really all in what you want.
