I have an old Harley and a Old Indian that are kick only..Once you learn their little quirks they are usually 1 or 2 kicks to get them running..Of course if there is a crowd of people watching it will never start..Just Kidding..

Takes some technique to get it but does get easier once get it figured out .. With my 69 XLCH took about 20 sessions and knew the right way to get it .. Usually by the 2nd kick always even when cold, When warm, 1st Kick 99% of the time.. Not sure Capt Itch was kidding about the crowd thing though..

*EDIT* - It's time for my drugs. I was remembering the wrong bike's starter, sorry. My CR250 had the kicker on the left. I stand on the foot peg with my left foot, right on kicker. That allows me to use the dominant (strong) leg to kick over.
OP: What you want to do, though, is give me the contact information for the seller, and I'll go check it out for you. Be sure to tell the seller that you're not interested, though, so he doesn't get upset when I buy it out from under you.
