Default Aftermarket Air Cleaner Question

Hey everybody, I picked up a Sportster 1200R a couple of months ago. I believe that it already has a Screamin Eagle air cleaner on it. However, I really like the looks of the open air cleaner where the filter is exposed (just with the stock style filter, not referring to a heavy breather or big sucker type). I've been looking but can't seem to find who makes them or where to buy them. I was hoping that maybe I could just buy a modified cover to expose the filter without having to buy a whole new setup. Any advice would be appreciated.

I bought a Hurricane flow because I wanted to keep my hamcan but once I saw it on I just polished the outside cover and run without the hamcan cover, I like the look.
There is a good closeup pic in my gallery.

Sorry no pix, but I cut the stock cover on my XL50 to have the open filter looks with the SE Ac. It turned out good, but used up alot of demel cut of wheels as that cover is heavy duty LOL!

Thanks for the posts everybody. It's a 2004. Here's a pic before the drags and turn signal relocation.

I'm looking for just a flat cover and eliminate the ham cover entirely, as seen here. However, I don't want to buy a completely different filter.

If you don't mind going away from the oval shape, make one for yourself:

mreed also has another thread for a slightly larger a/c.

Default DIY Filter

That scares me a bit. I'm super mechanically challenged....I can see that project leading to me damaging the engine in some fashion.

I'm mechanically retarded and managed it. I didn't even have a dremel so had to saw off that flange with a hack saw and then file down the back to make it level...took forever!

It's not that hard and it's a fun little project. Also, I didn't want any hoses or anything so bought one of those breather bracket combos from Ebay.

If you damage anything, it'll be the cheapo a/c or your ego but your engine won't be damaged.
