Default Fine scratches

I have an XL1200C in Vivid Black (cause its faster) with very fine swirl lines or scratches on the top of the gas tank. I used turtle wax "ice" and it seemed to help some but I was just wondering if there is a magic potion to get it back to glass?

ice is a synthetic protectant... you need a real polish- many products are called polishes but they are not so you gotta be careful.
menzerna makes some great polishes that you can trust. to do it right you need a machine. random orbitals are the best for non-pros cause you cant burn the paint with them.
btw, if you get those swirls out you will find that red is faster than black!

this is a polish that will likely do the job nicely:

Try the turtle wax black box. It helps with small swirls.

+1 on turtle wax black box. It works about as good as anything I have tried. Works good on gloss black powder coat also.

I would use 3M rubbing compound on a rag, then polish with a soft 3M cloth. Put some elbow grease in it. They will come right out.

FWIW I have owned too many black vehicles.

Once you get find scratches hand polishing (glaze, wax, polish, compound) will not remove them. You need to "machine polish" to fully restore. Follow the steps for polishing.

A recommendation for hand polishing is 3M Cleaner Wax.

Never touch a black paint job. California Dusters are good. Remove water with a leaf blower. Use only new (new) mirco fiber towels (remove the sewn edges of towels and any labels). Speed not pressure is a key. Many like a product called Zaino (a wax that is built up over time/ application) for black.
