Intermittent HIGH IDLE

Intermittent HIGH IDLE
Strange new occurance. Was riding yesterday, all was well. After about an hour, took a break at Mickey Ds. When I started up, everything sounded good. Put the bike in 1st and the idle kicked up. Shut it down, restarted normal. Started riding. At the stop exiting the parking lot, the idle shot back up. I pulled out on the road for a check. The bike idled at 20mph. Once, I hit 2nd things seemed fine til I hit a red light and the idle was still high.
I started heading for home, about 15 miles up the road, the idle was normal again.
I took a ride later in the day and the bike was fine. Not sure what to make if it. Before putting it way last night, I ran around again and the idle kicked back up about 1/2 mile from the house.
I am hoping some experts (even shade tree experts) here can help diagnose this to save me some coin at the stealer.
The bike: 07 1200N with VH 2:1 and stock AC, no fuel control.
Any input/suggestion appreciated. THX

Everytime my old bike would do this it was from not letting the bike warm up enough. I could start it up let it idle a bit go ride it down the highway 25 miles get to the bottom of an exit ramp, stop and pull in the clutch and the idle would shoot back up as if it were still in the warm up idle mode. Come to find out thats what it was...so let it get warmed up enough and it should not do it. Thats what worked for me.
I have noticed it with my 48 as well now I just irritate my neighbors and let it idle for longer than 5 minutes.

Checking it out; was thinking possible throttle sensor since the trouble appears and disappears at random

ok, just used cHarleys sticky https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...odes-dtcs.html
to very quickly check for codes ... none in each category.
Any other suggestions?

I would guess it's the throttle position sensor. Mine would act like I wasn't twisting the throttle sometimes (randomly) so I started rolling the throttle from stop to stop, with the engine off, and it hasn't happened in about nine months (I ride year round).
Just a guess though. There's a way to test it, but if it doesn't happen all the time it won't be as easy to find. Anything else should trigger a DTC.
