Thanks for the confidence all - the bike is still in progress, but looking like I want it to! The stock rear fender and fender support was all hacked/welded/bondo'd to make the tail section. The fab work is not stellar, but it's what I could do in my garage!

A note to the orange vest safety posse - the brakes will work. I know the rear brake is dirty. Please do not waste energy concerning yourselves with my safety - haha!

Haha bro I'm probably the last one to think about safety it just happened to be something I noticed. Looks great for it all being done in your garage. I love seeing bikes that the owner isn't afraid to make it their own with their own trial and errors.

After a quick carb rebuild and points set, she's running, stopping and inspected.
Warning to people with Bendix carbs, the china carb kit acc pumps are JUNK! Mine came from MID-USA.
My ghetto lowered forks are nice and stiff, this thing handles great in the twisties!
Just need plates and insurance and I'm riding legally.
I will tear it down this winter to freshen and pretty up the engine. Maybe build some slightly rearward controls. Other than that- it's the bike I wanted!

Some before/during pics.

sportybefore.jpg / When my dad bought it it had been sitting for a while, but was pretty stock except for the seat/pipes and the missing tank decals.

sportybefore2.jpg / My uncle bought some aftermarket bodywork in bass boat red. He handed it over when he decided he didnt really want to ride it. I didnt get a pic before i put the clubman bars on.

XLH_4-23-11a.jpg / The benelli tank sitting in place and the clubman bars on - this is when I started to get excited.

XLH_5-6-11a,jpg / tank stripped, fender structuarly there. Before bondo.
