Yeah, I hear ya about a larger bike, the weight can be a lot to deal with a low speeds and stopped. One thing about my sporty is I can lean it when stopped pretty far over if I'm just sitting on it with one leg up on the rear brake and no hands on the bars and I'm pretty comfortable with the weight. Plus it sits so damn low now with the struts it feels like a BMX bike under me when I stand up. Not sure I'm ready to move up to a bigger bike until my back needs a rest. My comment was just an observation that most everyone that drops their bike seems to have this idea that it's going to happen sooner or later. Sounded like the OP had a pretty bad day, so I'm not going to bust ***** too much. Like I said it was just an observation. OP, get back on that scoot and don't look back now that you go that out of the way! Cheers man!

Just be glad you were practically sitting still!
I took a ride the other day. On my way back home, my Wife and kids in the truck behind me a block or two, I was coming up on my house and realized the bungie I keep on my rack was sitting in the middle of the street in front of my driveway. I slowed a bit to make sure it was what I though it was, then I gave it a little more brake so I could stop right there and grab it...the rear tire slid like I was doing a damn stunt! I released that and lightly squeezed the front brake. It looked pro I grabbed my bungie, pulled up in my driveway and my wife pulls in with the most panicked look on her face!
Atleast it didn't go down!

glad you're ok and the bike too but why was it bound to happen? because you're a total douche or what? seriously though, i don't get it. that's like saying, oh well i was bound to die someday so fuhk it i'm gonna walk in front of this train and get it over with. i know you didn't mean for it to happen that's obvious but it was only bound to happen because you had it in your head that it was "bound" to happen. think or dwell about something long enough and guess what people, it's gonna happen.

yah, joe dirt, did you get the filter off the ranger? did you have them pull the motor to get it off? I would have used a chisel and cut the f-er off myself, or a grinder with a cuttin wheel.

I have not dropped my bike since I got it. one or 2 close calls but I don't want to fall into the "douche bag" catagory yet. j/k bro.

Welcome to the club it happens to almost everybody eventually. Lesson learned. Don't use front break when at a near stop making a U-turn in the driveway . I'm a strong boy and couldn't catch my 883 last summer, no damage done thankfully i did let it down softly.

I'm glad that you are ok and that there were no witnesses to your event.
I dropped mine an hour after I got it from the the dealer. I got home and failed to ensure that the kickstand was all the way down, hubby was 10 feet away and started screaming "KICKSTAND, KICKSTAND"!!! but down we went, the worst part everybody at the dealer warned me about the kickstand, a fact that the hubby had to point out.
