Default Oil change question

I have a 061200c with 480k on it should I change the oil at 500k before the winter.Probally will not be riding it much.Should i start it once a week.

I think i will. someone told me i should to get all the metal shavings out of it.is that true

Do not start weekly, as that will promote condensation build up. Just change the oil, start it to circulate the oil and ensure that no leaks exist and either disconnect the battery or hook up a battery tender.

If your not going to ride, then really "winterize" it. Change the fluids, trickle charge the battery, give it a good bath and some polish, then next spring, your "turn key" ready to ride.

I though if you have 480,000 on the odometer an oil change is slightly overdue

Yeah I also saw that and thought "Damn!" Sportster with half a million miles on it. Wow!
