Default Shock length for a Hugger?

Does anyone know what the shock length was for a stock Hugger? I'm going to lower the rear end on an '89 1200 and want to know what will fit. The shocks on the bike now measure 14" eye to eye. I want to use 11" but want to know if that is too low.

I'm running 10" shocks on my '00 XL standard. You could always put the bike on a motorcycle jack, remove the shocks, slowly lower the bike back down to the 11" mark, and then check under the fender for wheel clearances. However, you'll need to know how much the shock compression is for the actual shock you are putting on.

10 inch struts here, burly makes 10.5 shocks. As WVHogRider said...clearance and load are key
