Another vote for the Bell 500. Lightweight, and I haven't had issues with lifting.

There are a few good DOT 3/4 helmets on the market that are as small of a profile possible to maintain their DOT standard, but it all comes down to fit and it seems no 2 heads are exactly alike. I tried on a Fulmer V2, Bell 500 and a Rockhard Classic. Of those 3, for me the Rockhard had the best fit and the Bell had the worst, everyone is different though. Licks & Biltwell also have nice DOT 3/4 helmets which I did not try.

I'm one of the weirdos that wears a full face. I have a bell star with a transitions shield that changes from clear to tinted in sunlight. The ventilation is great so I get plenty of wind on my face when riding and it's not too hot.

I guess helmet studies show that in almost 40% of all accidents your chin is the first thing to hit the ground and a full face is the only style that protects that area.

I ride with a 1/2 now, but a full-face actually saved my life. I've been debating whether or not to try a 3/4.

Not BS at all. In Europe, where helmets are viewed as protective gear more than a fashion accessory, they did a study called cost 327. Helmets were collected along with accident data and compiled in a report that can be read here:

http://ec.europa.eu/transport/roadsa...nal_report.pdf

From the report: Most head injuries are sustained at the front of the head, with more than two thirds of skull fractures resulting from head impact.

Just got a Rockhard 3/4 open face helmet from the Motorcycle Superstore. I love it! Matte black, fits great! Best helmet I ever owned! And I live in a state where we don't have to wear them....

I already own a 1/2 helmet, the Bell Drifter (combat brown) and I also own a 3/4 helmet that I bought when I went to buy the bike from Harley, but its not anything like the Bell Custom or Biltwell. It looks incredibly large on me although it fits great!

I wanted a stylish DoT approved 3/4 for when I'm riding out and don't feel like carrying the extra weight of the one I purchased from HD.
